Two records! June has never been warmer or sunnier in Germany?
Offenbach, 28 June 2019 ? June 2019 is the warmest and sunniest June in Germany since nationwide measurements first began. ?New maximum temperatures yet again! It is coming to the point when I don't know what comment to make about this series of climate-related records,? says Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) press officer Uwe Kirsche, after an initial analysis by the DWD of data from its around 2,000 weather stations. Secondly, following on after a very wet May, June was much too dry.

A new heatwave hits Europe

For the second time in less than one month, Europe is witnessing a widespread and intense heatwave.?Many new records have been set in countries including Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands as temperatures?passed the 40? Celsius mark. The United Kingdom saw its hottest July day on record.
Record-breaking temperatures in Israel July 2019

An extreme Sharav?occurred in Israel on July 17th. In Sedom (southern Dead Sea) the daily maximum temperature reached an outstanding high of 49.9?C, which is the highest temperature recorded in Israel since June 1942 (On June 21st?1942, 54?C was measured at Tirat Tzvi, the highest temperature ever recorded in Israel).?A Sharav depression (warm cyclone) reached Israel from North Africa, which is unusual for the main summer months (it mostly occurs in spring). As a result there was a sharp rise in temperatures, which reached 40-42?C in the Coastal Plain, the Northern Valleys and the northern Negev, 42-43?C in the central Negev, 37-39?C in the Coastal Strip and 34-36?C in the mountainous areas. In the Jordan Valley and the Arava 43-46?C were measured with some places even warmer: Paran (central Arava) measuring 47.1?C, Hazeva (northern Arava) 48.5?C and the aforementioned 49.9?C in Sedom. The relative humidity was very low (10%-25%) in all areas, including the Coastal Plain which normally is humid in summer, with relative humidity values of? 60%-70% at noon.

Earth experienced warmest June on record

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has confirmed that the Earth just had the warmest June on record, ahead of June 2016. This is in line with the other major datasets from NASA, the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast Copernicus Climate Change Service and Japan Meteorological Agency.

On 08/07/2018, Dar es Salaam, the acting Director General of Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) and GFCS-Project Delivery Team chairperson Dr. Ladislaus Chang?a officiated the opening of PICSA workshop. Dr. Chang?a told the participants that at the end of the training workshop, Tanzania through Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) will upgrade the production of quality data through the latest version of R-instant, and he expects participants to be competent enough to upscale the knowledge to other part of the country and continent in general.

Although summer had once again made a brief, early appearance in April, the weather took a completely different direction in May. During the first half of the month, in particular, cool air repeatedly arrived from the north and north-west. The accompanying high pressure brought sunny weather on some days yet there were again widespread night-time frosts. At other times, low-pressure areas brought significant precipitation, particularly in the south, which briefly fell as snow, even in lowland areas. All in all, May was the first month with below-average temperatures after thir-teen months that were too warm. May was wet and with less sunshine than normal. This is what the initial analysis by the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) of data from its around 2,000 weather stations shows.
