Note that the highest mean monthly temperature for October was 32.1?C recorded in 2019.?The mean maximum temperature of the month was 33.3?C which is 0.2?C above the long-term normal.?During the month Bahrain had 8 days with maximum temperature exceeded 35?C. The highest temperature recorded during the month was 37.8?C which occurred on the 1st and 7th October at Bahrain International Airport. But recorded 41.2?C on the 1st October at Bahrain International Circuit.? ?

Caribbean has record-breakng heat season

A number of heat records were broken in the Caribbean in 2020. Notably, in September, Dominica, Grenada and Puerto Rico broke their national/territorial all-time high temperature records. On September 15th, Canefield in Dominica recorded a daytime high temperature of 35.7?C. One day later, Point Salines in Grenada recorded 34?C. According to the US National Weather Service, Aguirre in Puerto Rico recorded 100?F (37.8?C) on September 17th . The Caribbean Heat Season, the time of the year during which most heatwaves occur, has since 1995 been from May to October since about 1995. The peak period occurs during the months of August and September when high humidity coupled with reduced wind speeds increases heat discomfort.?

The Hungarian Meteorological Service organized the jubilee 10th Seminar for Homogenization and Quality Control and 5th Conference on Spatial Interpolation Techniques in Climatology and Meteorology virtually between 12 and 14 October 2020. The Seminars for Homogenization and Quality Control in Climatological Databases are traditionally held in Budapest and hosted by the Hungarian Meteorological Service since 1996.

Ground-ocean-space observation experiment of typhoon successfully carried out - China Meteorological Administration

On October 13, this year?s 16th typhoon Nangka made landfall in coastal Qionghai, South China's Hainan province. Targeted at the generation and development of Nangka, a ground-ocean-space multi-platform coordinated observation scientific experiment was successfully carried out from October 12 to 14 in coastal areas of central-northern South China Sea. Satellites, air planes, drones, and wind-chasing observation vehicles were flexing their muscles during the experiment, obtained a raft of valuable data, and showcased the feasibility of this scientific experiment. This is the largest scale typhoon scientific experiment with most observation facilities so far.

50th Anniversary of Fengyun Satellite Program - China Meteorological Administration

This year marks the 50th anniversary of China?s Fengyun Satellite Program. Up to now, China has launched 17 Fengyun meteorological satellites in total, with 7 in orbit. The Chinese meteorological satellites Fengyun, or FY in acronym, are arranged in series. The odd number series is the polar-orbiting satellite series, and the even number series is the geostationary ones.?Development and implementation of Fengyun Satellite Program is a national cause upon which pools the efforts from many institutions that undertake the production of satellite and carrier rocket, launching, telemetry & control, as well as the ground application. It is by the concerted endeavor of them that a complete meteorological satellite application system has been established. National Satellite Meteorological Center (NSMC) of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has become the operator of both polar-orbiting and geostationary meteorological satellites. Fengyun satellites are becoming ever more important in protecting life and property of people from natural disasters.

September 2020 goes on record as the hottest September ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902.?Hot and humid weather dominated the Kingdom of Bahrain during the month of September due to the moist easterly to Southeasterly winds.?The mean temperature of the month was 34.8?C which is 2.4?C above the long-term normal for September and this goes on record as the highest mean temperatures for September since 1902. The old record was 34.6?C recorded in September 2017.

The Aviation Meteorological Office (AMO) of the Republic of Korea has implemented a payment deferral program for aeronautical meteorological service charges to support airlines in overcoming the economic hardships caused by COVID-19 pandemic.?The AMO imposes aeronautical meteorological service charges on each international flight landing at airports in the Republic of Korea or flying over the Flight Information Region (FIR). However, monthly aeronautical meteorological service charges on landing aircraft are deferred for each airline for three months, from March to November 2020.
