Traffic forecast until 3 July

The holidays are starting in Slovenia, as well in Poland and the Czech Republic, which means that the traffic will decrease during the daily rush hours and increase at the weekends. Thursday, 25 June, is a national holiday in Croatia and Slovenia so we are expecting increased traffic on Wednesday from the interior of the country towards Slovenian and Croatian Istria, whereas on Sunday afternoon and evening, we expect increased traffic in the opposite direction.

Traffic congestions are expected in bottlenecks, mainly at the end of the express road by Izola and on the roads to the Dragonja and Sečovlje border crossings.

We would like to warn drivers especially to be careful when driving by work sites where it is necessary to consider traffic signalling, prescribed speed limits and safety distance.

PLANNED WORK ON MOTORWAYS

A1, ŠTAJERSKA MOTORWAY

On the section between Žalec and Celje, a reconstruction of the roadway and roadway facilities is taking place. The works are expected to be finished at the beginning of August at the latest. For more than six kilometres, the traffic runs on two narrowed lanes in each direction, while towards Maribor one lane runs on the opposite side of the motorway, parallel to the construction site. The Žalec (Arja vas) and Celje – West (Lopata) junctions are open for traffic, as is the Lopata resting place on both sides of the motorway.

Due to the construction of sound barriers in the section between Celje and Dramlje, the traffic runs for approximately nine kilometres along two narrowed lanes, one in each direction, with a limited speed. The works are expected to be finished by the end of October. In the direction of Ljubljana, one lane runs on the opposite side of the motorway. The Celje - Centre, Celje - East (Ljubečna) and Dramlje junctions are open for traffic as is the small Zima resting place on both sides of the motorway.

On 29 June, extensive reconstruction works on the Petelinjek viaduct and other facilities (the elimination of defects before the expiry of the warranty period) will be started between Blagovica and the Podmilj tunnel. For a little more than two kilometres, the traffic will run on two narrowed lanes in each direction (one lane will run on the opposite side of the motorway), with a limited speed. The works are expected to be finished by the end of August.

The third, slow lane (for goods vehicles) will be closed until 27 June due to the reconstruction of shafts, between Blagovica and the Podmilj tunnel in the direction towards Maribor.

A1, PRIMORSKA MOTORWAY

In the section between Logatec and Unec (the elimination of vegetation in the directions of Koper and Ljubljana), the emergency (or slow) lane is mostly closed on certain roadways, occasionally also the driving lane.

A2, DOLENJSKA MOTORWAY

Due to the reconstruction of the Mačkovec viaduct in the section between Kronovo and Novo mesto, for a little less than two kilometres, the traffic towards Ljubljana will run on only one lane with a limited speed from 29 June onwards. The works on the viaduct are expected to be finished at the beginning of July.

INSTRUCTIONS

Before leaving on a journey, please inquire about the condition on the roads and take enough beverages with you. The best thing is to take water. Ensure the safe transportation of luggage.

If a vehicle breaks down while driving on the motorway, drivers can use the SOS road telephone free of charge, they can call PIC by dialling 1970 or they can inform the Operational Communications by dialling 112.

The general limitations for goods vehicles and groups of vehicles in Slovenia whose maximum allowed weight exceeds 7.5t starts on 27 June and lasts until 6 September this year during the tourist season.

During this period, these vehicles are not allowed to drive (without an adequate permit) on Saturdays from 8.00 to 13.00 and on Sundays, holidays and work-free days from 8.00 to 21.00. Stricter limitations apply to coastal roads: on Saturdays from 6.00 to 16.00, on Sundays, holidays and work-free days from 8.00 to 22.00.
