The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) actively supports the activities of the Regional Climate Outlook Forum (RCOF), which brings together experts to produce seasonal, regional climate predictions and information. By bringing together countries with common climatological characteristics, these RCOFs ensure consistency in the access to and interpretation of climate information. The East Asia Winter Climate Outlook Forum (EASCOF) is one such RCOF, which was jointly established by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), and Mongolia's National Agency for Meteorology and Environment Monitoring (NAMEM) in 2012.

A five-day?World Meteorological Organization?(WMO)?Workshop on Impact-Based?Forecast?and Warning System?(IBFWS)?was organized?in Honiara, Solomon Islands.?The training workshop is?funded?through?the Climate Risk Early Warning System?(CREWS) fund?for the South East Asia and Pacific Small Islands States, and?is a follow-up from?the?regional?IBFWS Workshop for the Pacific Small Island Developing States of WMO RA V, which was conducted in September 2019.?This?Workshop is the initiative of the Solomon Islands Government, suported by?WMO.?It?is?attended by?over?30 particpants from?Solomon Islands Meteorological Service (SIMS)?and?stakeholder?organizations.?

Weather extremes have affected the northeastern regions of Libya on Saturday 7 / 11 / 2020. Heavy rain hit the areas of Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar causing floods. The rainfall rates ranged from 85 ? 110 mm in Shahat, Al-Bayda and Al-Abraq, including the far eastern coast, where it exceeded 40 mm, and accompanied by north-western winds exceeding 30 knots. The flooding caused material damages to buildings, electricity and telecommunication networks. The National Meteorological Centre (NMC) issued and disseminated an early warning 48 hours before these extremes occurred.?

On October 13, this year?s 16th typhoon Nangka made landfall in coastal Qionghai, South China's Hainan province. Targeted at the generation and development of Nangka, a ground-ocean-space multi-platform coordinated observation scientific experiment was successfully carried out from October 12 to 14 in coastal areas of central-northern South China Sea. Satellites, air planes, drones, and wind-chasing observation vehicles were flexing their muscles during the experiment, obtained a raft of valuable data, and showcased the feasibility of this scientific experiment. This is the largest scale typhoon scientific experiment with most observation facilities so far.
